Hello --

Rhoda Long, her father John Long, her mother (Mrs. John Long), and sisters were at Ruddle's Station when it was overrun. Rhoda was later interviewed by Lyman Draper. She was married to Robert Ground.

It seems to be generally accepted that Mrs. John Long is Mary Conway, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Bridgewater) Conway, but does anyone have documentation of that?

My descendancy: John Conway-Elizabeth Bridgewater/Mary Conway-John Long/Rhoda-Robert Ground/Drusilla Ground-Jacob Gardner Boydstun/Martha Virginia Boydstun-Andrew Jackson Dukes/Roberta Drusilla Dukes-Jewell Moser Richardson/Jackson Moser Richardson-Margaret Loraine Lumpkin/Margaret Richardson-Michael Julian Bates

Bob,

Here's another brief account of the capture of Ruddell's Station.

Hello --

http://www.shawhan.com/Long.html has an error in Rhoda Ground's deposition -- there are some words left out.

"John Long's family consisting of himself, wife and five children - one of the latter, a small boy, was scalped;" is what the text says, but should say:

"John Longs family consisting of himself, wife and five children, John Conaway, wife
and seven children -- one of the latter a small boy was scalped..."

Just happened to notice that, and it could be misleading.

Thanks!
